How to import DV video into Windows Movie Maker?
This article is going to share with you how to capture video from DV camcorders and convert the captured video from DV to AVI or WMV file for importing into Windows Movie Maker project using DV Video Converter.
Let's take a look at how it performs:
Step 1. Download the latest version of DV Video Converter. Install and run it.
Step 2. Click the "File" menu item. In the drop-down list, click "Capture Video from DV..." to start capturing videos from your DV.
Note: Make sure your DV camcorder is connected to your PC. Otherwise, there will be a pop-up dialog of "DV camcorder not connected". Besides, you need to check that your DV camcorder is powered on and set to VCR mode. An IEEE 1394 Firewire Card is required to connect your DV camcorder with your PC to capture video.
Step 3. In the pop-up dialog of "Capture Video From DV", you can preview the video and trim the video (click the "Start Capture" and "Stop Capture" buttons). Click "OK" and video will be captured.
Step 4. Back to DV Video Converter, you will find the video you captured just now. From the drop-down list of "Profile", select "General Video" category. From the subcategory, select "Customized AVI Movie (*.avi)" or "Customized WMV Movie (*.wmv)" as the output format.

Step 5. Click "Start Encode" to start to convert the video captured from your DV camcorder to AVI or WMV.
Step 6. Import the output video to Windows Movie Maker
After you get the output video clip converted from the captured DV video, now you can begin to import it into your Windows Movie Maker.
Click on "File". Then click on "Import". A window will appear. In the window, navigate to the video clip you converted from the captured DV video just now. Then double click on the file. You'll see the icon for the file in your Windows Movie Maker "Collections".
